Ginger Tea

How to make ginger tea with fresh ginger root?
I have fresh ginger root, a coffee mug, and a microwave but no stove. How much fresh ginger should I peel and how long should I heat and let it sit for? What do you think about adding honey and coconut milk?
This is our go-to sick at home make you feel all warm ad good tea. I just slice about a half a thumb worth into thin slices and microwave for a minute and a half ( let it boil) then let it sit for a couple minutes and add a spoon of honey. I don’t know about coconut milk. I think coconut cream would be better.
** You can tell when someone has never made it before when they suggest grating it LOL. Then you have to strain it so you don’t get little pieces of crap in your teeth. If you slice it thinly, it keeps getting stronger as you drink it and….no crap in the teeth.
