What is a healthy tea i can buy from Wegmans?
I want to stop drinking coffee every morning, because im young and i know coffee isnt the best thing for my body. I also know that tea is healthier, but not all tea’s are the same? Does anyone know i type of healthy tea i can buy from my local wegmans grocery store? And what makes it healthy for me. (specific names and brands would be helpful)
As far as a brand name goes, I’d recommend Twinnings of London. Twinnings is Quality Tea that can be commonly found at grocery stores. What makes tea healthier is the fact that it contains a lot of antioxidants (although coffee contains some as well) and significantly less caffeine than coffee.
Green Tea is very popular in Asia, although not everyone enjoy the rather bitter taste. If you want to buy green tea, I’d recommend looking for a flavored green tea. I have some pomegrante green tea that I really enjoy by The Republic of Tea. I’m not sure if you’ll be able to find teas by The Republic of Tea at Wegmans since I’m not familiar with that store, I purchase it at a local organic grocery store chain.
Black Tea is what is typically drank in Europe and would probably be a good first choice for someone switching from coffee. Black has about 20% the amount of caffeine as a cup of coffee of the same size, whereas green has about 5%-10% the amount of caffeine. I come from a family of coffee drinkers and they don’t do well without their morning cup since their bodies are so used to having that daily infusion of caffeine, so a more highly caffeinated tea works better for them. You’ll still get the benefit of the antioxidants and not consuming as much caffeine without having as drastic of a drop in caffeine intake which will make the transition easier. My favorite Black Tea is English Breakfast, it’s delicious served with about a tablespoon of skim milk in it and a bit of sugar. Twinnings makes a great English Breakfast.
White tea is the lightest tasting tea, the lowest in caffeine, and the highest in antioxidants. It is also usually the most expensive and may be difficult to find in a grocery store.
Herbal tea isn’t actually tea at all since there are no Tea Leaves in it. These “teas” are usually made up of different fruits, flowers, and herbs so their beneficial properties vary from one to another.
